About Us

Calvary Chapels are known for their expository, verse by verse Bible studies. This gives us a well-rounded understanding of God's Word. The Bible teaches us how to know God, how to marvel at His grace and how to respond appropriately to His love toward us. Calvary Chapel's vision is to equip the saints with sound Bible teaching. Bring your Bible and a pen!

Calvary Chapel Coastlands

Dear Fellow Coastlanders,

Let’s start with some good news.  I was informed on 18 March that our Chinese missionaries were able to secure tickets back to their mission field.  They will be returning to China in two weeks.  That means that whatever you are hearing on the news, there is an end in sight to this craziness as there were no new cases reported today and only one yesterday in the county where this outbreak started.  Remember that news outlets are for profit businesses and want to grab your attention with the worst slant possible. At the same time, we need to be diligent to follow the most basic recommendations possible as we face real life.  I have a funeral scheduled on Saturday for example.  There are hard choices to make.  Keep me in prayer.

But things are changing and a moving target as I mentioned yesterday.  Our governor signed an executive order that people do not meet in gatherings of more than 10 people as of tomorrow evening.  Our desire is to meet the needs spiritually that are ongoing for the four hundred or so who call our church home while trying to be a part of the solution as well.

On the evening of 18 March, I met with our elders including a medical doctor who has a history in infectious diseases.  We prayed for all of you and the situation and realize that God is doing something.  We have hope and do not fear as those who have no hope, so do not panic, God is still on the throne last time I checked.  In our meeting we came up with immediate solutions and secondary solutions for this weekend which were immediately needed because of the governor’s announcement today.  We also met with our staff today to go through plans and solutions to meet the growing spiritual needs which I will lay out in this message.

Beyond meeting with the elders and staff, Fab and I were invited to partake in a national web meeting with around 100 pastors from across the country.  It lasted close to two hours.  We are gathering all the information we can to successfully fulfill our God given mandate to save and disciple.  So here is our plan as of now for this weekend.  Stay tuned because it may change tomorrow.

  1. Invite everyone you know to download our app, search Calvary Chapel Coastlands, bookmark our webpage, cccorpus.org and like our Facebook page.  This will enable you to get devotions, updates, encouragements and watch our streamed live services.
  2. If you do not have immediate family and want to fellowship as a church body this weekend, meet up with someone in the church and plan to watch the live feed together as long as you are not sick or have a depressed immune system for any reason.
  3. If you do not have a group of less than 10 people to fellowship with, we are creating a list of host homes for the service.  This info. will be available through the church office.
  4. Servants and a worship team will be at the church Sunday morning.  I will be conducting two shortened services for those who show up, one at 8:30 and another at 10:00 the 10:00 service will be live streamed.
  5. We are creating space at the church so those who do show up will also meet the requirements set out by our governor.  The few we expect on Sunday will be able to spread out in the sanctuary.  We also have other designated places on our campus where people can gather and watch the live stream as well.  We are not going to turn anybody away unless you are sick.  (please do not show up anywhere if you are sick)
  6. As long as we are allowed, we will keep the church office occupied by staff.  We are open Tuesday through Friday.  With all this chaos, please call and make sure someone is here to help meet your spiritual needs.  We are here to pray for you and give Biblical guidance.
  7. Not everyone is well connected to the church.  Reach out to your immediate fellowship group and get them connected.
  8. Not everyone should go to the store either so reach out to those you know who may need help shopping or even cook a meal for someone in need during this time.
  9. We as elders decided that if you need a home visit, we desire to send a ministry couple to visit with and pray for you.  Contact the office to arrange a meeting.
  10. Pray a lot, spend time with Jesus.  The world needs you on top of your spiritual game right now.  Give ‘em Jesus.

In Christ, Pastor Rod
