fabrizio martorello - Assistant Pastor

Fab and his wife Elvira are East-Coast Calvary Chapel transplants and have been attending/serving at CC Coastlands since 2012. Currently Fab serves as our Assistant Pastor and is also over men's ministry, the koinonia small-group ministry, new construction projects, the tech and website ministries, KSGR Radio Station and leads the church finance team.

rene hernandez - elder

Rene and his wife Patricia have lived in Corpus Christi all their married lives. They have one son Joshua and one daughter Alyssa. Before coming to CC Coastlands Rene and Patricia had been in youth ministry for many years. Currently Rene oversees the High School Youth. He says he loves discipling and ministering to the next generation to equip and encourage them as they move from high school into adults. He also enjoys playing basketball, singing and playing the guitar. Rene says "I love my church family and serving the Lord is a blessing and honor". 

walter santiago - elder

Walter John Santiago was born and raised in New York City until the age of 11 when he moved to Puerto Rico where he lived for the next 18 years. As a college student he had his first Bible study with Jehovah Witnesses. After discovering they were a religious cult, he abandoned his Bible studies and focused on a career in medicine. As a medical doctor in the Air Force he moved 17 times until arriving in Corpus Christi in 1996. It was in the year 2000 that due to a severe illness of his former wife he accepted an invitation to go to a Baptist church where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, got baptized, and became a dedicated student of the Bible. Walter's favorite Bible Verses are, Rev. 21:1-4. Between he and his beautiful wife Isabel, they have 5 adult children: Matthew, Reina, Smiley, Lee May, and Alex. Currently Walter serves as an elder here at Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands and he teaches the Wednesday night children’s ministry, leads a Tuesday night Men's Study group, leads a "Koinonia" Home Fellowship group and serves on the prayer ministry.

schuyler schmidt - elder

Schuyler was born in Pharr, TX, while his parents, residents of Corpus Christi, were on the way to visit his paternal grandparents in Donna, TX. He grew up and has lived in Corpus Christi except for some time spent in Harlingen, TX while in college and for almost 5 years in the late 90s while there for work. Schuyler is married to Rose Marie since April 2004. Schuyler is proud of his 3 stepsons and 3 grandsons. Schuyler said, "I was raised in a Christian home and have been a believer for as long as I can remember, but was practically backslidden from my early teen years. I came to faith of my own as an adult at age 29." He has worshipped and served at Calvary Chapel Coastlands since 2003. His favorite Bible Verses are Romans 12:1-12. Currently Schuyler is an elder who oversees the Info Booth, Church Secretary & E-mail Prayer ministries here at Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands.

donald ruiz - elder

Donald R. Ruiz was born in Corpus Christi and has also lived in San Diego, CA. He and his wife Tish have lived in Corpus Christi since 2003 with their children David F. Flores and Christina M. Ruiz. Donald received Jesus as his Lord and Savior in his early twenties. He served as a children's servant at Horizon Christian Fellowship in San Diego in his late 20's and has continued to serve in children and Jr. High ministries over the past 8 years here in Corpus Christi. One of his favorite Bible verses is Luke 16:19-31, The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Donald's favorite past time is raising cattle and hunting. Currently Donald is an elder here at Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands, and oversee's the Jr. High and Lawn Ministries.

gLEN kELLEY - elder

Glen Kelley and his wife Kate accepted Christ together on November 4th, 1990 and have been on an adventure with Jesus ever since. Attending Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands since 2011, Glen currently serves as overseer in the Children's Ministry, also helps usher and is always excited to pray and see God work. Some of Glen's favorite scriptures include Proverbs 3:5-7 and Romans 5:1

Grant huffman - elder

Grant and his wife Maria moved to Corpus Christi in 2014. They have 6 children with two of them still at home. They have been faithfully serving the Lord for the past 15 years from California to Georgia and now here in TX.  They both serve in multiple areas of the church including prayer, announcements, children's ministry and overseeing our Vacation Bible School (VBS).


mike castro - elder

Mike and his wife Adora were married by Pastor Rod in 2003. They have two daughters Alexa and Cynthia and one son Jonathan. They have been faithfully serving the Lord for the past 19 years here at Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands. Mike is from California and Adora is from Corpus Christi. They both serve in multiple areas of the church. Mike oversees our ushers, greeters and parking lot. Adora oversees the Nursery and our "Mom's Room."



Rodney, raised in Corpus Christi, and his wife Tina were married in 1992 and have lived here ever since. Although Rodney has been a Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Boat Captain and a Private Pilot, his greatest adventures and joys in his life has been in believing and trusting Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was saved with the help of a home ministry playing Chuck Smith teaching tapes back in 1976. He had always hoped and prayed for a Calvary Chapel to come to Corpus Christi because he believes verse by verse teaching is how to make disciples, taught with the full counsel of God's Word. He thanks Pastor Rod and Noreen for answering that call. Tina grew up in Donna, Texas and was raised in the Methodist Church. She has a BS in Nursing and a BA in Religion. They have attended Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands since 2006. Rodney oversees the Church Facebook page and the Church website. Rodney also enjoys leading a home Koinonia group and a group in The Men's Study on Tuesday nights. Tina enjoys helping with Women's Bible Studies, Women’s Prayer Time, The Prayer Chain, and The Meals Ministry. One of Rodney's favorite scriptures is: 1 Corinthians 13:12-13
