Dear Fellow Coastlanders,

 (Pastor letter from March 18th)

Click on Pastor's update video for the most recent

Let’s start with some good news.  I was informed on 18 March that our Chinese missionaries were able to secure tickets back to their mission field.  They will be returning to China in two weeks.  Things are changing and are  a moving target. Our governor signed an executive order that people do not meet in gatherings of more than 10 people as of tomorrow evening.  Our desire is to meet the needs spiritually that are ongoing for the four hundred or so who call our church home while trying to be a part of the solution as well.

On 18 March, I met with our elders including a medical doctor who has a history in infectious diseases.  We prayed for all of you and the situation and realize that God is doing something.  We have hope and do not fear as those who have no hope, so do not panic, God is still on the throne last time I checked.  In our meeting we came up with immediate solutions and secondary solutions for this weekend which were immediately needed because of the governor’s announcement today.  We also met with our staff today to go through plans and solutions to meet the growing spiritual needs which I will lay out in this message.

Beyond meeting with the elders and staff, Fab and I were invited to partake in a national web meeting with around 100 pastors from across the country.  It lasted close to two hours.  We are gathering all the information we can to successfully fulfill our God given mandate to save and disciple.  Stay tuned because it may change tomorrow. Click on the Pastor's video updates above on the left to see my most recent video. Also available is the video of me with other local pastors praying together on a zoom call.

1. Invite everyone you know to download our app, search Calvary Chapel Coastlands, bookmark our webpage, and like our Facebook page.  This will enable you to get devotions, updates, encouragements and watch our streamed live services.

2. If you do not have immediate family and want to fellowship as a church body this weekend, meet up with someone in the church and plan to watch the live feed together as long as you are not sick or have a depressed immune system for any reason.

3. If you do not have a group of less than 10 people to fellowship with, we are creating a list of host homes for the service.  This info. will be available through the church office.

4. Servants and a worship team will be at the church Sunday morning.  I will be conducting two shortened services for those who show up, one at 8:30 and another at 10:00 the 10:00 service will be live streamed.

5. We are creating space at the church so those who do show up will also meet the requirements set out by our governor.  The few we expect on Sunday will be able to spread out in the sanctuary.  We also have other designated places on our campus where people can gather and watch the live stream as well.  We are not going to turn anybody away unless you are sick.  (please do not show up anywhere if you are sick)

6. As long as we are allowed, we will keep the church office occupied by staff.  We are open Tuesday through Friday.  With all this chaos, please call and make sure someone is here to help meet your spiritual needs.  We are here to pray for you and give Biblical guidance.

7. Not everyone is well connected to the church.  Reach out to your immediate fellowship group and get them connected.

8. Not everyone should go to the store either so reach out to those you know who may need help shopping or even cook a meal for someone in need during this time.

9. We as elders decided that if you need a home visit, we desire to send a ministry couple to visit with and pray for you.  Contact the office to arrange a meeting.

10. Pray a lot, spend time with Jesus.  The world needs you on top of your spiritual game right now.  Give ‘em Jesus.

In Christ, Pastor Rod

Men’s Study of Philippians

Join us men as we meet weekly from 7-9 pm to go verse by verse thru another important book in our Bibles. You will never be the same! All men who want to join us for our 13 week study are invited to attend. The commentary book for our study of Philippians is $15 and available for purchase at the Study (also includes Colossians, our next study).
Bring a friend, and click here for our mens ministry page for more study opportunities.

As we look around the world today, it is not hard to find reasons for discouragement—the challenges of life in a sin-ravaged world quickly feel overwhelming. The battering that our hope takes comes not only from outside the church but also from inside it with the ongoing temptations and failings of believers.

The letter to the Philippians addresses head-on the human tendency toward discouragement and hopelessness. In Christ, who was in the form of God yet emptied himself and went to a cross for our sake (Phil. 2:5–11), an invincible hope is given to all Christians everywhere, whatever we are facing. The gospel gives us a comfort and solace that no human circumstance can take away (4:10–13). Whatever happens—personally, politically, economically—God has freely granted to those who trust in Christ a righteousness that is not dependent on their obedience but on Christ (3:9). For this reason we have “ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus” (1:26) despite the storms raging around us.
“Rejoice in the Lord always” (Phil. 4:4). If we have Christ, we have everything. We hope all Men join us for another great study of God’s word and fellowship. We sharpen one another. Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.

Psalm 107:14

This prodigals ministry is for encouragement for those of us who have loved ones not walking with the Lord or who have walked away from Him. We will meet the 1st Sunday of every month, 6-8pm, in the Multipurpose Room. Sign ups and flyers are available at the Info Booth. The next meeting will be on MAY 3 RD.
