All about Jesus

missions and outreach

Global Missionaries Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples of all nations. Calvary Chapel is doing just that by equipping, encouraging, and serving our missionaries and the ones they reach for Christ. We are committed to serving as senders to those who would respond to the call and give their lives for the sake of the gospel. Scroll through the list of missionaries below to learn more about the work they are doing around the world. Pray about your involvement.

This ministry helps those who are sick, have had surgery, etc. within our fellowship by providing a meal. If you desire to help in this way, see the signup at the info booth or talk to Elvira M.

This is a ministry where we will be going out to various parts of the city to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. From Esther’s Testimony] My original calling was to be a missionary in Mexico City. I had just finished bible school and the Lord laid on my heart to go to Mexico City. I had no idea what I was going to do when I got there.
Once there I started teaching biblical studies. Within two years those studies grew into a church of over one hundred people. After seven years the Lord enabled me to open a home for desperate people. The calling was to help people suffering from drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution and other needs of the spirit. These people needed a home that supplied not only physical needs but spiritual healing as well. Soon after that, I was called to open a home in Matamoros.

I moved to Matamoros in 1995. I served the Lord there for 3 years. We soon started looking for land instead of having to pay rent at our current location. An evangelist came by and told me about a friend of his that had recently accepted the Lord that had a big heart and some land in Sandoval, a small community to the west of Matamoros.

In July of 1998 Adventures in Missions helped to get us started by building 3 wood frame, steel roofed buildings on this property. Two of the three buildings have been replaced.

We first moved to Sandoval with 4 women and 10 children. By this time I had already been ministering to the local prison in Matamoros, but had to stop because of the move from the city. One day I received a woman whose husband was in prison serving a ten year sentence. Celeste had a son named Pepe and she asked me if she could visit her husband in the prison. I said yes, but that I would need to go with her. From there on I began prison ministry on a weekly basis.

In 2006 Larry and Hannah Overton fell in love with a little boy at their church. His name was Andrew. Andrew was a foster child that the Overtons felt a great desire to provide a home for and to "become his forever family." He would be their sixth child, an addition to their five biological children. A few short months later tragedy struck and their world was turned upside down. Andrew went home to be with Jesus when he passed away from a rare medical condition called Hypernatremia. This condition caused very high, fatal levels of sodium in his body. This sorrowful tragedy was compounded when Larry and Hannah were accused and charged in Andrews death. On September 7, 2007 Hannah was convicted of capital murder and sent to a maximum security prison for life without the possibility of parole for a crime she didn't commit. This would leave Larry at home to care for their other 5 children. During Hannah's time in prison God not only held her and her family in His hands but also used this trial in mighty ways. After seven years of imprisonment, Hannah was exonerated and all charges were dropped on April 8th, 2015. During this span, many have come to the Lord and the ministry is continually growing. Although Hannah is home with her family, Hebrews 13:3 reminds her to "remember those in prison as if you were there with them." The Overton's heart is to share their story, encourage those facing times of sorrow, and to always trust that God is faithful to lead them every step of the way. They will continue to minister to those behind the gates and remind the church that this charge is not only for those who have been there like Hannah, but for all believers!

Wayne and Tammy Andrus

Dear Friends,

Many of you have been following our journey in Kenya, Africa these past 6 years. As you know we have been traveling back and forth because of the need to earn money to support ourselves. We feel the strong call to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the most broken. While in Kenya, we ask God to lead us wherever He wants each day. This prayer has led us on paths that have been incredibly fruitful. There are so many stories of miraculous that we could write a book. This Journey has brought us to prisons, rescue centers, feeding centers, orphanages, water well ministry, schools, slums, hospitals and the list goes on and on. This prayer has led us to save lives both physical and spiritual. As we serve Jesus, He has overflowed our hearts for the Kenyan people more and more. As we prepare to head back to Kenya in April or May, we believe we are being led to be on the mission field full time ... But we cannot do it alone. If you would like to invest in eternity by partnering with us, here are a few ways you can participate.

1. You can directly donate at our or our Andrus Family Mission Facebook Page (under shop now). Or send a check to P.O. Box 9101, Corpus Christi, Texas 78469 {your donation will be a tax write off).

2. Host a get together (dinner, lunch, Bible study, church service), and we will come share our story.

3. You can come on a mission trip! We would love to show you personally all God is doing in Kenya.

4. Pray. We may have listed it last, but prayer is most important. You can keep up with how to pray specifically on our website or Andrus Family mission Facebook Page. Please like our page and share our posts!

5. Email us for quarterly newsletter.  Email address is

All donations are appreciated no matter how much. In Kenya we can do so much with little. Our prayer is for long term monthly donations, so we would love for you to be part of our lives the entire journey and experience all that God does!

Many blessings

The Andrus Family

It’s just the beginning to a blessed year!

God is calling me back to the campus! Except this time as a missionary. I get the amazing opportunity to work with Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. It stands for “Christ Ambassadors” and it comes from 2 Corinthians 5:20. This means I’ll be considered an in-state missionary. I’ll be leading a small group of girls by discipling them, outreach on the campus, helping with our Thursday night services, tabling at the university, and taking classes to learn more about missions and ministry in general. Why? I came from a Christian home and when I went to college I had new opportunities such as partying. This left me completely broken, unsatisfied, and completely empty. It wasn’t until I rededicated my life to Christ and really got plugged into Chi Alpha that I was whole, complete and healed because of Jesus. I believe that we are witnessing a student awakening. Many students are having this same encounter with Jesus. There is no other place in the world where all nations, people groups, and future leaders meet and where Christians are allowed in. This makes it strategic.

How does Chi Alpha reach the campus? I’m glad you asked! One of our primary ways of reaching the students is by our student led small groups. During Welcome Week when new Freshman step foot onto our campus we go out there, make new friends, and invite them to specific Chi Alpha events. This often leads to friendships which turns into true discipleship. This means loving them, sharing Jesus with them, and living life together. One girl named Vanessa (to the left of me), who was in small group this past year, didn't know Jesus coming into college but by loving on her this year and her finding out who Jesus was for herself she gave her heart to Jesus this past February and I had the privilege of baptizing her in April. Another girl I was able to disciple this year was named Vivian (right). She was a new Christian who I truly saw come out of her shell. Her walk with the Lord grew this past year. Vivian was able to graduate in May and is currently in the Philippines serving with our missions team there. These two girls are only some of the examples of what God is doing in the hearts of college students today! There are many others who are testimonies of what it’s like to have an encounter with Jesus. I can’t wait to share all what God does this year! Thank you for your prayers and support!

While we were in Africa this past November , We visited Bethany's Aunt Elizabeth Anne Nicholson at her home of 8 years in Jinja, Uganda. Elizabeth started a non-Profit called Grace's Kids which is a foundation that nurses malnourished children back to health, educates the community on sustainable organic farming and sponsors individual children to receive education and necessary health care. I litterally sat in t...he back seat and witnessed, as we drove around the community, funds being taken directly from donations and straight to the needs of others. I have the utmost respect and confidence in this foundation. I know that if I give to this cause 100% of my resources will be used in the lives of people in need. This is why I have decided to donate 100% of any proceeds made from "IN HIS IMAGE Film & Music" to Grace's Kids.
Lets go beyond futile arguments on social media while waiting for government to care for the needs of the world, because in reality it is up us as individuals to be an example of love, generosity and compassion.

You may order the film "In His Image" by giving a donation of any kind at
