In this message from Hebrews 12:5-11, Pastor Rod Carver teaches about loving corrections from God. Being in a relationship with the Lord is not religion, it is literally a relationship. This passage deals with the question of, "Why does God allow difficult things to happen in our lives?". God promises that everything we suffer in our lives as believers is for a purpose. Do we grow through easy times? No. We grow though trials, and God is therefore creating a character that lasts for all eternity. Here are 10 reasons for chastening:
1. Because the Lord loves you, He chastens you. 2. Chastisement (discipline) reminds us that God loves us enough to pay attention to us. 3. God's chastening is not rejection. It's a sign of Fatherhood. 4. If you endure chastening, it is proof you are His children. 5. Because the Lord loves you, you may have to endure more trials than those who do not know the Lord. 6. God's correction is motivated by Love; it is never to punish us, never to make us pay for our sins. 7. It's worse for us when God does not correct us. 8. When heeded, God's correction gives us more respect for Him as our Heavenly father. 9. Discipline profits us. 10. Discipline grievous during the process, but glorious in its product.
