Jonathan Sprinkle | The Proverb of Solomon's Temple

Teacher: Jonathan Sprinkle Series: Topical Teaching Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:12-22

In this message from 2 Chronicles 7:12-22, Jonathan Sprinkle teaches about giving the right response to God. Such as honoring God during worship, not honoring the instruments when worshiping God. Another example is the Temple in Israel (now destroyed). It was known as Solomon's temple, but God chose to dwell there. It was not about the temple, which was an instrument of worship, but about who was in the temple. God gives us instruments to lead us to His presence, but when the instruments become idols, His presence departs, and ruin comes. Since God hears all of our prayers (1 John 5:14-15) and asks us to repent, repentance is the right response. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says of His people (Jews in the verse but it also applies to Christians) that He will heal their (our) land if we 1. humble ourselves, 2. pray, 3. seek His face, and 4. turn from our wicked ways. These are the 3 takeaways: 1. Remember that we should remember that God hears our prayers and dwells with us, 2. Recognize every gift is an instrument to point us to Him, and 3. Repent... when instruments become idols, surrender them back to God.
